The small Lago di Cornino Nature Reserve extends over 500 hectares between
the municipalities of Forgaria nel Friuli and Trasaghis. The wide
bed of the Tagliamento river and the rocky walls of the Carnic Prealps are
teeming with flora and vegetation and for nearly twenty years there has
been an ongoing international project for the conservation of the griffon
vulture (Gyps fulvus). An ideal destination for school trips and birdwatchers,
the Reserve organizes guided excursions along panoramic trails and
viewpoints, where you can admire the countless faunal species opulating
the reserve, and in particular, the griffons as they soar up into the orning
sky. There are several rest areas along the routes, where you can njoy
your packed lunch.
